I started playing World of Warcraft shortly after Wrath of the Lich King came out so Death Knights will always have a special place in my heart. Ever since I learned that all races would have a Death Knight class option in Shadowlands, I’ve been wanting to make a Zandalari Troll Death Knight. But I wanted to wait to pre-purchase Shadowlands until closer to when it was released. However, when I saw that a release date isn’t until the end of 2020, I finally decided that I wasn’t going to wait any longer for my undead Zandalari boy.
Having no interest in the special Shadowlands character boost, mount, pet, or armor, I pre-purchased the basic edition. I’ve done the character boost before and always end up feeling like I didn’t earn that character and that I’m somewhat disconnected from it. Plus, it’s really not that hard to level a character these days, especially with the 100% experience boost from Blizz.
So last weekend after I finally caved and pre-purchased Shadowlands, I created my Zandalari Death Knight. I’m hoping they increase the customization options for allied race DKs eventually but I found a look I liked and settled on the name Bahnji.

I was somewhat underwhelmed by the introductory quests for Allied race DKs but I’m hopeful they improve that when Shadowlands actually releases. If they do, I’ll certainly be playing through it on some character. It would actually be cool if all races could do the original DK starter area, but I doubt that’ll happen because it’s not true to lore, yada, yada.

I was very happy to see and receive the new weapon appearances for DKs because I feel like that was long overdue. Frost is my favorite DK spec but I actually like the red-looking one-handed swords better for my Zandy boy. I also love how he looks in the Zandalari heritage armor because really, that armor was perfectly made for that race. Set him atop the DK class mount for frost spec and I was in heaven!

I took Bahnji to Outland instead of Northrend to test him out. Did I enjoy him as much as I thought I would? Was he everything I’d hoped he’d be? Yes and yes! I loved him so much more than I expected and I was glad I’d pre-purchased Shadowlands to make him.

I keep telling myself that I should wait to play him until Shadowlands comes out so I can quest him through any zone I want instead of Outland or Northrend, but I just can’t help myself! He’s so much fun to play that I just want to keep playing him for a while and get him all his talents and skills. I already have a few other DKs but I don’t foresee getting rid of any of them because it’s definitely one of my favorite classes. Finally having a Zandalari DK has made me love them even more!
