Re-Summoning Ravishing Riviena

About a week ago while I was browsing through people I follow on Twitter, I came across a Tweet about an event happening in-game where players were going to run the raid called Dun Scaith wearing horns. It was called a Tiefling Run, but I admit, the term tiefling was not a term I knew very well at the time. The point of the run was to show support of players who like to wear horns with their glams. Apparently, an Elezen player had been bullied in-game for wearing a glam with horns. Although I don’t usually venture into groups of unfamiliar players to do things, this time I decided I needed to.

Bullying is not okay. I’m fortunate that I’ve never been bullied in FFXIV and that there have only been a handful of times when people were unkind to any of my many characters. Most times people totally ignore my characters for the most part and I’m okay with that. But I wasn’t about to ignore this particular call to action just because I tend to be shy around new people. Plus, I have horns on glams of several of my characters because they’re just cool, so I’m all for such things.

The event was organized by players who offer tons of helpful tips and advice on gposing in FFXIV. I love to take screenshots of my characters in gpose, but I’m still quite amateur so I’m always learning new things. I would encourage you to check out their discord at Sights of Eorzea . Or their website at Sights of Eorzea. There are beautiful screenshots to see, photo studios to find, and overall fun to be had!

I went to the Tiefling Run as my main-main of D’azri because she had demon horns and the Diabolos wings, thus the most complete “demonic” glam. I knew that most if not all of the other players would be playing Elezen but I figured cat girl support was better than nothing. I’m very glad I went to the run because the people who organized it and who I met while doing it were some of the nicest people I’ve met in the game so far. They rank right up there with the friends I’ve made in the free companies I’ve joined and I’m always happy to make new friends. It was a fun run with a gposing session afterward in the raid and although I was still rather shy about it, I loved having D’azri included in other people’s amazing screenshots! I only included my screenshots here because I didn’t want to upset anyone by not asking permission.

Being among so many people who played and loved Elezen, re-summoned my love for my Duskwight Elezen lady named Riviena. I made her purposely Duskwight because I’d heard that there were very few DW players in the game and I wanted to help boost the population a bit. Plus, I like playing the “underdog” and representing the under-represented. Rivi was one of my earliest characters I made but as I have so many characters and a “squirrel brain” that fixates on things randomly and intermittently, she became somewhat forgotten.

But the Tiefling Run changed that and I started playing Rivi again with renewed love and conviction. I got her some horns to add to all her glams and I changed up her look a bit to fit my new view of her. For most of her existence, she’d had purple hair with some sort of highlights, but I changed her hair to a more sea green with dark blue highlights. Blue is my favorite color so it just seems inevitable that eventually my characters will have blue somewhere in their manifestation.

Wanting to take full advantage of the Road to 80 buff on the Dynamis DC, I moved her to a realm over there where I have a personal free company, and started leveling through her various jobs. She’d started as summoner but I branched her out into red mage and dancer because those are two of my favorite classes. I’ll continue picking up new classes on her to use the buff and to just have an overall blast playing her.

I’ve yet to have anyone comment on the horns in her glams or to comment on her at all really. But I have noticed that there are very few Elezen in the raids and dungeons I’ve been doing. That’s something I noticed back when I made her two years ago and apparently the population hasn’t increased much. I imagine it’s different across all the worlds and of course there are die-hard Elezen lovers everywhere I’m sure.

I’m quite happy to be playing the ravishing Riviena once more and I’m quite sure I’ll keep playing her for a rather long stretch in the foreseeable future. I’m looking forward to more events with the lovely group of people I met doing the Tiefling Run and hopefully I can even join them on Rivi someday. Will I get Rivi all the way through Endwalker before the next expansion? It seems highly likely right now and I can see her stepping into Dawntrail as one of my favorite characters.
