The very first character I made in Final Fantasy 14 was a Seeker of the Sun Miqo’te that I named at the time Sriset Ravencrest, which was the name of my main blood elf hunter character on World of Warcraft back then. However, as I played Final Fantasy 14, I realized I wanted to keep it separate from my World of Warcraft life and thus decided to rename my first character to D’azri Estrela, a name she’s had ever since.
It took me some thinking on one of my long walks where I live to come up with her first name. I wanted something that had a touch of “Sri” in it so I came up with the Zri part pretty fast. As I’m someone who gets lost in all games and has to constantly check the map, I feel like my movements can make anyone watching, and myself, dizzy at times. So D’azri is a bit of a play on Dizzy Sri. Estrela is the Portuguese word for star and I chose it because my close friend Jack is from Brazil and I wanted a word that reminded me of him. Eventually Jack started calling her Star Kitty and that’s definitely one of my favorite nicknames for any character I’ve ever made.

I honestly don’t remember what world I created D’azri on originally but I do know that I moved her fairly early on to the world of Goblin on the Crystal Data Center. I moved her there because some friends I knew from World of Warcraft were already on that world and there was a buff to whatever level was 10 below max level at the time. When I started playing, Shadowbringers was the latest expansion but I was quite a long ways off from getting to that storyline.
I was happy on Goblin for quite some time, especially when my friend Jack started playing Final Fantasy 14 and we were able to play together. We had lots of adventures together, me on D’azri and him on his then male Miqo’te he named Jack. When male Viera were introduced, he used a fantasia to make his character one and he’s been a golden bun boy ever since.

Unfortunately, there came a period of time when Jack wasn’t playing and my other friends on Goblin weren’t playing either so I started feeling very lonely when I’d play D’azri. When the new Dynamis Data Center was created, I made a few characters there, one of which became Kibbles V’kebbe. The Free Company that lured Kibbles in with sandwiches was full of friendly, active people, and I eventually decided to move D’azri to Dynamis and into that Free Company. I thought D’azri would remain my main and Kibbles would be a close second.

Eventually, Jack started playing FFXIV again and I ended up moving my character of Maisha to Goblin to play with him. I’d created Mai originally on Dynamis and leveled her quite a bit there. As time went on, I ended up giving D’azri a “vacation” of sorts after I finished Endwalker on her. Kibbles became more of my main character with Mai following close behind. Thus far I’ve taken both Kibbles and Maisha all the way through Dawntrail and have completed the patches to date.

Recently I’d begun missing playing D’azri because even though I’ve done a lot of content on Kibbles and Maisha, D’azri still has the most content unlocked outside of Dawntrail. I’d started Dawntrail on D’azri while she was on Dynamis but hadn’t gotten very far. I realized I wanted to move her back to Goblin so I could play her alongside Jack again since they’d been “partners in crime” on Goblin for quite a long time. Jack frequently travels to Dynamis to play alongside Kibbles and the other Free Company members which is always a good time.

Alas, when I went to move D’azri, I realized that Goblin had since been designated a congested world. So instead, I first moved her to Diabolos where I have one of several personal Free Companies for my many characters. I also moved her mate, Qolmaru, who is a Xaela Au Ra because I refuse to separate them again. While D’azri was on Diabolos, I got all the portraits for the Free Company house there because she’s the only character that has them unlocked. D’azri and Qolmaru remained on Diabolos until the launch of the 7.2 patch when they changed Goblin back to being a normal world.

I moved D’azri and her mate back to Goblin shortly after the patch released and it feels like D’azri is home again and there to stay. Kibbles is still my main on Dynamis and I love all my Free Company friends there but it was time for D’azri to return to her roots, per se. I’ve since begun playing Dawntrail on her again and I’m determined to get her caught up before the release of the next major MSQ patch. Then perhaps it will be Maisha’s turn to take a vacation, time will tell.

I’m looking forward to more adventures of D’azri and Jack and seeing what trouble they can get up to on Goblin. Jack is very good at convincing D’azri to do things she wouldn’t otherwise be brave enough to do alone, so it should be a fun time!

D’azri returned to Goblin loaded with tons of furnishings from her apartment and Free Company room on Dynamis, so I’m looking forward to changing up the Free Company house on Goblin more frequently. When D’azri left Goblin, the Free Company house was in the Empyreum, but since then, the house has moved to the Lavender Beds. D’azri started as an archer in Gridania so it’s yet another way that she’s returning home.

My Star Kitty has had quite an interstellar journey through worlds and Data Centers but she’s home for good on Goblin now. In hindsight, I don’t think I’d do anything different as all of her moves served a beneficial purpose and throughout it all, she’s remained the same character as always. Like me, D’azri is bubbly, optimistic, determined, and has a horrible sense of direction but she’ll never get truly lost again now that she’s back where the belongs.
